Dan Rider
Managing Principal and Co-founder
Dan founded Visual Intelligence, LLC in 2007 with the vision of providing innovative, advanced knowledge-based solutions based on a new breed of technology.  He brings over 25 years of large scale system design, build and implementation experience. Prior to founding Visual Intelligence, Dan led the Informatics Solution Delivery organization at Independence Blue Cross where he was responsible for the development of the Healthcare Informatics Business Strategy and the resulting Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence implementation effort managing a diverse team of over 300 professionals (on-shore and off-shore) and $250m budget.

Prior to his work in the Health Insurance Industry, Dan was a Senior Manager at Accenture focused in the Financial Services and Insurance Practice.  His primary focus was eBusiness strategy, eBusiness architecture, and business capability implementation. Dan led the Financial Services Business Unit for the Accenture Cincinnati location. Dan has a B.S. Applied Science from Miami University and is a seven year veteran of the US Navy Submarine force.

Cristian Ilie
Managing Principal and Co-founder
Cristian founded Visual Intelligence, LLC in 2007 with the mission of delivering ground breaking solutions to transform the way organizations interact with information and make critical business decisions.  He brings over 15 years of large scale Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence development experience with deep focus in advanced analytics, visualization techniques, data mining and modeling. Before founding Visual Intelligence, Cristian worked for a large Blue Cross plan where he led an Innovation team to evaluating emerging technologies in informatics and applying them to core business challenges.

Prior to Blue Cross, Cristian worked for Spotfire, recently acquired by Tibco, leading numerous engagements within the pharmaceutical & biotech industry and for UPMC Health System in Pittsburgh as Sr. Manager for biostatistics. Cristian holds two Masters Degrees, one in Health Information Management and Medical Informatics from the University of Pittsburgh and one in Health Care Admin/Policy Research from the Pennsylvania State University. He has a B.S. in Bio-Sciences from Penn State University and he attended the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest, Romania for BS in Chemical Engineering.

Cristi Balasa
Operations Lead, Romania
Cristi Balasa joined Visual Intelligence as an Operations Lead for the Romania office.  Upon joining Visual Intelligence, Cristi has been responsible for the strategic growth and development of the Romanian office overseeing a specialized technical staff.  His responsibilities include the utilization of information technology initiatives to ensure the execution of VI’s overall strategy both here and abroad.

Prior to Visual Intelligence, he was the Database Architect for GE Money Bucharest.  There he oversaw the creation of development strategies for data storage, replication, security and performance improvement.  In addition his department was responsible for the creation and improvement of data models, data warehousing, monitoring and training. He has over 13 years of experience in a variety of industries including Finance, Engineering, Non-Profit and Commerce.  Cristi has a Master of Science degree in Engineering.


Michael Kalada
Business Intelligence Architect
Michael joined Visual Intelligence as a Business Intelligence Architect responsible for innovative solutions delivered across multiple industries.  Michael is the lead Tibco-SpotFire (TSF) designer/developer adept at optimizing solutions and workflows around the TSF visualization pallet.  He is experienced at managing large business intelligence implementation projects in geographically dispersed team environments.  Most recently, he was responsible for leading the hospital support cross competency solution team.  All operational, new development, and client management tasks fall under Michael.  In addition developing cutting edge solutions for pharma, healthcare payers, and firms dealing with medicare/caid related data acquisition, management, and manipulation are under his area of expertise.

Michael has over 12 years managing, operating, and analyzing complex datasets assembled from multiple source systems and environments, and delivering actionable business intelligence to business users.  Prior to VI, Michael was at a major health insurance company as Special Projects Data Analyst and successfully implemented several major corporate initiatives centered on data and information delivery in a multicultural bilingual environment.  Mike is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Insurance and a minor in Actuarial Science.

Igor Rabinovich
Web Solutions Architect
Igor joined Visual Intelligence, LLC as Web Solutions Architect responsible for the strategic development and management of all web delivered BI solutions. Igor developed the Visual Intelligence Portal Integration Strategy, a differentiated offering allowing seamless integration of TSF solutions into customer portal environments.  This allows enhanced usability, customer branding, and consistent ‘look & feel’.  He has over 14 years of Technical Architecture, Systems and Web Development experience.

He has worked for a number of industries including Healthcare and Pharmaceutical organizations delivering high impact and innovative solutions. Most recently, Igor has managed the portal development efforts in the Lifestyle Industry and Public Sectors.  He has extensive experience working in the Healthcare Technology Innovation Lab at a major health payer on the east coast.  Igor is a thought leader regarding .NET/SQL Server/Oracle platforms.  He has B.S. in Computer Science from Drexel University.

Pete Paciorek
Data/Infrastructure Architect
Pete joined Visual Intelligence, LLC as a Data/Infrastructure Architect.  He is responsible for analysis, design, implementation, and support for all server, application and database systems.  He has over 35 years of experience in system and data administration of large scale data processing systems.  He has gained this experience across a diverse group of hardware and software platforms for a wide variety of industries. 

Over the last 15 years, Pete’s specialty has been developing high volume reporting and data management solutions.  These solutions were sized from geographically dispersed distributed database systems to reporting data stores that are terabytes in size.  These databases were designed with full integrity and recoverability support in mind.
